Dart 2 Dart 9.2 mile and 5.3 mile
Dartmeet, Badgers Holt, Dartmeet, Yelverton, PL20 6SG
A sat ‘tbc’
Unfortunately we’ve hit a major snag with this event in the shape of a landowner who is vehemently opposed to night runs of any kind.
‘I will not allow night runs to take place… A night run will disrupt nature and grazing sheep and cattle, including fish life, otters and all other forms of nature. Flashing lights of any sort whether they be head torches or guidance lanterns hung in bushes will not be allowed. Also the thought of 200 runners or even a 150 is simply not acceptable’. Though seemingly not bothered by people speeding through his land in cars knocking down sheep and other animals. We are therefore postponing the Dart2Dart for now & running a new race, The Night Templer at Stover Park on the 18th Nov. We’ll also be contacting everyone who has already entered the Dart2Dart.
Everyone loved our new venue at Dartmeet and the new courses.
As the series is now established on Dartmoor, we wanted it to be properly embedded on the moor, so what better place to start and finish than where the East and West Dart meet (or diverge, depending on which way you look at it!).
Both routes head straight up onto the Moor and through Sherwell up towards lower Cator. At approx 2 miles they split with the shorter route turning right and after a short flatter section climbing steeply up towards Corndon Tor before the fast exhilarating descent back to Dartmeet.
The longer route continues down towards Bellever and then follows a tree-lined path up to Bellever Tor before looping back and crossing the stepping stones at Babeny before rejoining the start route.
Race entry includes: electronic chip timing, fully marked out course using poles, arrows & flashing lights , feed station, Birch wood finisher’s medal, bottled water for all finishers, free number transfer if you are unable to run, category prizes & spot prizes (via our free to join Strava club).
We now have an optional team competition. If you don’t have a team use your club name which will also qualify for the team competition. The team’s time is the time of the first three team members to cross the line added together.
